This article informs us about the devastation people in the East Coast, especially experiences because of Hurricane Sandy. In New York, many neighborhoods were flooded, and rescue workers pulled dead bodies from wreckage, while electricity was out for three days. There were more than 70 deaths, including 24 in New York City, 8 in New Jersey, and 4 in Connecticut. The death toll continues to rise as rescuers find more in basements and other places. Lower Manhattan remained dark, the Jersey Shore, and neighborhoods in Brooklyn and Queens. 900,000 customers were out of power in New Jersey but electricity is expected to return in some areas by November 9. Some people also lost food, their cars, and their homes. This is one of the most unexpected events in American history and people living in the East Coast struggles to cope with the disaster's cause. Evacuations help the people, but some families lost their members during the hurricane and this is the most painful impact of Sandy.
I decided to choose this article to know more about the effects of Sandy to the East Coast citizens. In my opinion, we are not used to this kind of event because we have never truly experienced it. This article informs us about impact of Sandy and how people attempts to reduce the damage. It is scary to think that this can happen anywhere and that we are never safe. It is best to prepare now for future problems even if it is unlikely to happen in our area. This horror reveals how natural disaster can easily destroy an area quickly and easily.
